Horner gives Perez time: 'His performance will improve naturally'.

Christian Horner said after the race weekend in Spain that Red Bull Racing would like to see Sergio Perez improve his race qualifying. The Mexican's performance to date has been somewhat erratic, but that is partly to do with getting used to the car. Perez gave himself five races to get up to speed and the Monaco Grand Prix is the fifth in the series. Therefore, Perez sees this weekend as an extremely important one.
Little time in the car
Following earlier statements after Spain, Christian Horner was asked during the press conference Monaco, Christian Horner was asked where Perez lacks compared to Max Verstappen. According to Horner, the difference is mainly in the time Perez has spent in the car versus the Dutchman, who is obviously familiar with the material.
Horner: "I think he has had a relatively little amount of time in the car. I mean we see it with Daniel in the McLaren. It takes these guys a little bit of time to get completely familiar with their surroundings, the characteristics of the car and so on. Plus, he’s got Max as his team-mate", which of course is not a very fair comparison. After all, the Dutchman is in a class of his own and knows the car many times better than Perez.
" I think that’s certainly happening for him on Sundays: his race performances are getting stronger and stronger. And I think just with more time and more experience we will see his Saturday performances just naturally improve," said Horner. So Perez will still have time to develop in the Red Bull and the hope is that he will find a better fit at some point.
There is also no specific place where Perez can really improve much more. "It’s always difficult to identify one specific area, so I think you can always focus on trying to be a bit better everywhere," concludes the Red Bull Racing team boss.
