Is Ferrari a serious threat to Red Bull and Mercedes in Monaco?

Remarkably enough during the second free practice session, it was Charles Leclerc who topped the timesheet, with Carlos Sainz shortly behind. It was a good day for Ferrari in Monaco and the duo are hopeful that they will be able to perform well this weekend.
Ferrari off to a flying start
After a dramatic 2020, Ferrari are looking much better for 2021, battling it out with McLaren for third place in the first four races. In Monaco, however, more seems possible as the Italian team was fast on the street circuit on Thursday. It's instilling a lot of confidence in Sainz.
''We seem to be going to be a real threat, but we have to wait until FP1. A lot can change from Thursday to Saturday, and there are a few drivers who will take it easy on Thursday. On Saturday Lewis (Hamilton) is always super fast, so we'll see. In any case it is good to see that we are closer'', said the Spaniard according to Motorsportweek.com.
Leclerc to P1
Leclerc finished last in the first free practice session due to a gearbox problem, but it didn't take long for the Monegasque to set a fast lap on the circuit next to his home. In FP2, Leclerc quickly found his rhythm and even set the fastest lap. He also doesn't dare to look too far ahead yet.
''I want to wait until Saturday now, but it looks too good to believe it. There are still some margins, and I'm sure Red Bull and Mercedes can do more too, so we shouldn't get too carried away. We have to work hard on Friday, and then we'll see where it ends,'' the Ferrari driver concludes.
