Next year another talent from the Red Bull Racing junior programme will make his debut in Formula 1. Yuki Tsunoda will drive at AlphaTauri next year and will compete with Pierre Gasly, who won his first win at Monza last year. The two drivers have already met and the Frenchman was very pleased with the young Japanese driver.

"It's a funny figure," explains Gasly. He already knew Tsunoda from Formula 2 and Formula 3, a class that the Frenchman himself likes to look at. "He did really well there a number of times. He won a number of times and was often on pole." Gasly is not just positive about his future teammate.

Tsunoda the right teammate?

"He left a lot of points for the championship in a few moments, but in general I think he did well." In Tsunoda's rookie season he finally managed to finish third in the championship. Gasly did have great success in his time in the then GP2. In 2016 he won the championship.

Tsunoda has a lot to learn from Gasly and the Frenchman is also aware of that. "We did the track walk together in Abu Dhabi," explains Gasly to Motorsport.com. From Tsunoda, however, Gasly expects few new things to learn. "For me, it doesn't really matter who drives next to me. I just have to do it as well as I can," concludes concludes the Frenchman.
