After an exciting Azerbaijan Grand Prix last weekend, Formula 1 makes its way to Singapore this weekend for a night-time spectacle at the Marina Bay Circuit. The street circuit is challenging for the drivers, with Singapore itself providing a stunning backdrop for the viewers. Rain has helped create some iconic Singapore GPs in the past, and some more showers are to be expected this weekend.
What is the weather forecast for the Singapore Grand Prix?
Weather.com predicts that there is a 60% chance of thunderstorms on Friday, which could affect running in FP1 and FP2. Despite the chance of rain, the temperature will be humid throughout the day, with a high of 31C and a low of 27C expected.
On Saturday, there is a much lower chance of rain. It is predicted to be cloudy with just a 24% chance of rainfall on Saturday evening, meaning drivers will most likely be setting faster qualifying times. Temperatures of 26C are expected in the evening.
On Sunday, rain could definitely affect the race, as there's a 51% chance of showers late at night. This means the F1 race could be affected by the weather, and the teams must make sure they stay on top of their weather radars throughout. Temperatures of 26C are also forecasted for Sunday's race, which gets underway at 20:00 local time or 13:00 BST.
Singapore is the only race on the calendar that Max Verstappen has yet to win. Verstappen might need a rain shower on the twisty street circuit if he's in for a chance of victory. In the past two races, the Red Bull driver finished sixth in Italy and fifth in Azerbaijan. Ferrari managed to win in Singapore last year, which was the only time there was a non-Red Bull victory in Red Bull's dominant 2023 season. McLaren, who won the last Grand Prix with Oscar Piastri, are also expected to be strong this weekend.
