Honda is disappointed with the result in Italy. The engine supplier of Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri had expected more than a fourth-place ahead of the Emilia Grand Prix. Toyoharu Tanabe talks about how Honda experienced the Sunday.
"Overall, this was a disappointing race for us, although there were some positive aspects, with Daniil making the most of the opportunity provided by the Safety Car period at the end to give AlphaTauri an excellent fourth place at their home race," says Tanabe in his employer's review. Of the Honda-powered drivers, only Kvyat managed to finish in the points.
This is pretty disappointing for Honda because both Red Bull and AlphaTauri were competitive. "In addition, both our teams were competitive all weekend, Max running second before his retirement caused by a try problem and Pierre qualifiying fourth yesterday," the Japanese commented. Gasly also dropped out in Imola.
Compliments for Mercedes
The Frenchman who will be competing again next year for AlphaTauri did not make it to the finish because of a problem with his radiator. Congratulations from Honda, however, go to Mercedes. "They are a very strong team but we continue to work hard with the aim of catching and passing them," said Tanabe
