The Dutch Grand Prix will not take place before September 1st, that much became clear after Prime Minister Mark Rutte's press conference on Tuesday evening. All events with a permit requirement in the Netherlands are suspended until that time. Whether it will be possible to race at Circuit Zandvoort in the period after that remains to be seen.

That will partly depend on whether that Grand Prix is allowed to have an audience. Jan Lammers was rather firm with the statement that a Grand Prix of the Netherlands was not possible without the Dutch fans being present at the circuit.

The organization would be financially too dependent on ticket sales and he thinks it is a shame to celebrate the return of Formula 1 in the Netherlands without an audience. After the news of Tuesday evening Lammers will discuss this with Radio Veronica in more detail and nuances his earlier statements.

Fans would vote for a Grand Prix without an audience

"All options are now on the table. At one point I made a more personal statement than a statement from my position. Personally I thought: 'but without an audience huh, [that's not possible] if everything is well prepared" However, as an organization the Dutch Grand Prix is now open to everything.

Lammers continues by stating that most racing fans would now vote for a Grand Prix without an audience if that was the only way to let the event go ahead. He emphasizes that he is not the only one who can make a decision about this and that the organization also depends on decisions made in The Hague. The door for a Dutch Grand Prix without an audience is therefore still possible.
