Once it became known that the Formula 1 teams are not allowed and unable to work on their cars in the coming weeks, and that they can work as a technology company in the fight against the COVID-19 coronavirus, they joined Project Pitlane. With this initiative, the teams help with the development and production of respiratory equipment, among other things.

Also at McLaren they've been working hard at this. Deep inside the McLaren Technology Centre is the usually secret lab e-zero. Here they normally work on the development of all prototypes of McLaren's street cars. Now this space is used for the production of ventilators for the respirators.

At the moment about 70 employees of McLaren are working on this. In the video above, McLaren gives a glimpse of how this works and explains which two types of ventilation equipment they make there exactly. As soon as a load is ready, it is transported to the hospitals as quickly as possible.
