Marko warns Red Bull that "weaknesses are still the same"
- Nicole Mulder
In the 2024 Formula 1 season, teams were far closer to each other than the year before when Max Verstappen dominated proceedings. However, in 2025, Helmut Marko expects the differences to become even smaller. The top adviser therefore stresses that Red Bull Racing must work hard over the winter to appear stronger on the grid next year and give the Dutchman a chance to win his fifth world title.
"If they take this form into next year and we don't improve, it will be even more exciting than it already was this year. But that's the beauty of the sport. It doesn't start all over again because the regulations are stable," Marko began in conversation with the German branch of Sky Sports.
Marko: "Our weaknesses are still the same"
"But our weaknesses are still the same. We get to the track and all the simulations and results from the wind tunnel do not correlate with reality. The car is in a much too small working window of what does work. So our technical team has a lot to do," the 81-year-old Austrian continued.
Next year, Marko expects the F1 teams to be even closer together than in 2024: "The differences are getting smaller and smaller. McLaren is stable with their driver duo, but of course, it will be interesting with Ferrari. We have to wait and see what happens with Ferrari. Antonelli in the Mercedes, that won't be easy either. But I do see an advantage in the fact that with Max we have a clear number one," concludes the Red Bull advisor.
