Max Verstappen congratulates McLaren on Formula 1 constructors' title
9 December at 18:00

For the first time since the 1998 season, McLaren are the constructors' champions in Formula 1. After all 24 Grands Prix weekends have been completed, the Woking-based team manage to finish ahead of Ferrari and Red Bull Racing. The drivers' world champion, Max Verstappen, believes their rivals deserved.

Verstappen: 'Since Miami, McLaren were the most solid'

Max Verstappen and Red Bull could carry over the 2023 form into the current season, however, with the Miami GP, that changed. With a new update package introduced, McLaren were evercloser to the Austrians, and throughout the season, the order between these two teams, Ferrari and Mercedes constantly rotated given the track.

"They've been very solid since Miami," Verstappen began. "Quick moments on every track. So naturally then they are I think very deserving to be up there and win a championship. Because naturally from our side we hoped also to be in that fight, but too many things went wrong," the Dutchman added.

The Dutchman is also satisfied with the season finally coming to an end with the Abu Dhabi GP. "Very happy. It's been too long".
