'Red Bull believed to be using trick: FIA will check more strictly'
On Thursday morning, a rumour shared by Autosport came to light that a trick was used by a Formula One team, where they could adjust the ride height between qualifying and the Grand Prix on the Sunday. According to the De Telegraaf, rumour suggests that Red Bull Racing have been using this trick. Red Bull themselves strongly deny these accusations.
'Red Bull accused by other teams'
Once the cars are in parc fermé, no changes may be made to any part, with the exception of the aerodynamic adjustment of the front wing. Given if there are changes, a team would be penalised in different ways, whether its a pre-race or post-race.
The FIA has no indication of any team actually using a trick to raise or lower the front bib (also known as the T-tray), but the motorsport federation have stepped up checks ahead of the weekend at the Circuit of the Americas.
Several teams have alerted the FIA about this aforementioned trick, therefore, the FIA are taking extra measures this weekend. "While we have not received any indication of any team employing such a system, the FIA remains vigilant in our ongoing efforts to enhance the policing of the sport. As part of this, we have implemented procedural adjustments to ensure that front bib clearance cannot be easily modified," the federation informed Autosport previously.
