The 2020 Formula 1 season will go down as one of the most dramatic and fascinating in recent years. There's been some brilliant racing, dramatic crashes and some surprise winners. Here are our top five moments from the 2020 season!

5 - The final few corners of the Turkish Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc looked on course for P2 at the Turkish Grand Prix, when he overtook Sergio Perez in the final few corners. However, he ended up missing out on the podium altogether as he ran wide at the last few turns, allowing Perez to switch back and Sebastian Vettel came through for third. The German almost caught Perez on the line, but it was a fantastic few corners to end a memorable weekend in Instanbul.

4 - Lance Stroll takes pole in the pouring rain

Rewind 24 hours and Lance Stroll took one of the most unlikely results of the season, as he claimed a first-ever pole-position in Formula 1. He beat strong favourite Max Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez, as he reaffirmed what he is capable of in the rain. The Canadian was over five seconds faster than the Mercedes pair, and despite struggling during the race, it was a brilliant moment from the 2020 season!

3 - The season restart

When we arrived in Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix, nobody would have imagined actually starting the season at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. However, that's how it was and great credit must go to the Formula 1 organisation and community for putting on racing during the most difficult of circumstances. And what a race we were treated to, only 11 drivers finished the race, Lewis Hamilton and Alex Albon tangled again, as three different teams made up the podium. There was even a first-ever F1 podium for Lando Norris. What a way to welcome back racing!

2 - Gasly's stunning win at Monza

One year after being dropped by Red Bull, Pierre Gasly showed his former employers what he is capable of as he scored a surprise win at Monza. The Alpha Tauri man became the first driver from France to win a race since Olivier Panis at Monaco in 1996, when only three drivers finished the race. Red Bull failed to score a single point at the Italian Grand Prix whilst Gasly top-scored leading to even more wild celebrations than when he came second at Interlagos last year.

1 - The Sakhir Grand Prix weekend

The race on the Bahrain outer-loop was arguably the weirdest and most enthralling race of the season, which is why it takes top spot on our list. After Lewis Hamilton tested positive for coronavirus, Mercedes took a risk and put George Russell into the Mercedes. He impressed, topping FP1 and FP2, before narrowly missing out on pole to his teammate Valtteri Bottas. However it didn't take long for him to take the lead as he was in front by turn one, and looked on course for a first-ever win, let alone points.

However, disaster struck when Mercedes made a mess of a double-stacked pitstop sending Russell out on a mixed set of tyres. He was surging through the field and gt himself up to second but then a puncture put an end to the dream. Although Russell was left frustrated with a ninth-place finish, that allowed Sergio Perez to take a first-ever race win, despite being last after the opening lap. Esteban Ocon and Lance Stroll joined him on the podium in a race that completely summed up the 2020 season... And that's not even mentioning Jack Aitken and Pietro Fittipaldi making their Formula 1 debuts.
