Netflix is busy with the fourth season of Drive to Survive, the program that gives an insight into the world of Formula 1. The new season will have to do without Max Verstappen, who didn't want to participate anymore, but Lando Norris will join the series.

Painted as an idiot

Verstappen recently cancelled his participation in Drive to Survive, as he felt his statements were not shown in the right context. Norris, however, is happy with how he is portrayed in the series. "I think it's perfectly fine," says the McLaren driver at Motorsport-Total.com. "I certainly hope I'm not portrayed badly or as an idiot."

He also has something to say about Verstappen no longer cooperating. "You can often decide what is shown and what is not. I think they do a good job, though. I watch it occasionally but don't watch the whole season or an entire episode. I can't speak for Verstappen, but for me everything is fine."

Norris unprecedented popularity

In a short time, the 22-year-old Briton has become one of the most popular drivers in Formula 1. Whether that will affect negotiations between him and McLaren, however, he doubts. "Formula 1 is about driving, but of course we also need someone who attracts the fans, because Formula 1 exists because of the fans." Norris also cannot deny that his value to a team increases with a large fan base behind him.

Norris is also very popular among female Formula One fans. "It's nice that I have an influence on them because a lot of people think that mostly men follow the sport. Hopefully, I can give a good show and also involve this group of fans a bit more in Formula 1. Maybe there will be more female drivers that way and it's cool if I can push that a little bit."
