Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton put on another great title fight during the Mexican Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc said after the race in an interview with Ziggo Sport that he expects the Dutchman to be the winner this year.
Verstappen started the Mexican GP in third place but had an excellent start. He passed Valtteri Bottas, who had pole position, on the outside to take first place. He never relinquished it for the rest of the race, increasing his lead in the world championship.
Leclerc showed his respect for Verstappen after the race. "I think Max because I feel that he probably has a bit more speed this year," he stated when asked which driver will win the world championship this year. "There will be circuits that I think should be very fast. And of course, Max is also an excellent driver."
Thorough race for Ferrari
The Monegasque did not experience an exciting race at all in Mexico. Together with his teammate Carlos Sainz, Leclerc was unable to get closer to Verstappen, Hamilton, Perez and Pierre Gasly. Ferrari did try to get closer to the Frenchman, but this proved to be impossible.
