Helmut Marko is keen to make things as difficult as possible for Lewis Hamilton in the Turkish Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver is not allowed to crawl towards the podium and so the qualities of Pierre Gasly, Yuki Tsunoda and Sergio Perez will be called upon. Red Bull Racing will use its sister team AlphaTauri to frustrate Hamilton.

Speaking to Sport1 Marko let it be known that he was surprised by the top speed of the Mercedes engine."It 's incredible how much power Mercedes has found in the drivetrain. I think we are still much closer in race trim. And it won't be so easy for Hamilton to just drive up front for a while. There are a number of drivers there anyway who won't make it that easy for him."

AlphaTauri is going to help Red Bull

The Red Bull Racing advisor is referring to men like Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc, but especially the Honda drivers. It could well be that, for example, a Yuki Tsunoda or Pierre Gasly will be sacrificed to halt Hamilton's advance. "Mercedes is also using its customer teams. Of course, we will also use the AlphaTauri drivers strategically. But it will always be fair."

At Red Bull, they're going to do everything they can to make sure Hamilton doesn't get anywhere near Bottas, because in that case the Austrians know one thing for sure: "Then there will be a swap of places." Presumably the same will happen at Red Bull if Verstappen unexpectedly ends up behind Perez on the tarmac of Istanbul Park.

Weather conditions in Turkey

Marko and his team are prepared for all scenarios. "What is certain is that the weather forecasts are not right here. It's always been different. We are flexible and adapt to what is going to happen. You've also seen how exciting and crucial it is to be on the right tires at the right time. That is very exciting for the audience and will raise the blood pressure of everyone involved," he concluded with Motorsport-Magazin.com.
