"If they say something to me, I believe Christian and Helmut completely."

Sergio Perez signed a one-year contract with Red Bull Racing at the start of the season. He had to make the disappointing results of Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon fade away, but only occasionally succeeded in doing so.
Rumours of Red Bull second seat
Expiring contracts in Formula 1 are often the cause of silly season speculation, and Sergio Perez was no exception this season. The rumour mill has been fed with names from George Russell, who has now signed with Mercedes, to a return of Pierre Gasly, who is performing extremely well for the AlphaTauri team. Even Fernando Alonso could possibly sit next to Max Verstappen, or so it was rumoured.
The Mexican started his season with Red Bull Racing relatively well. He took victory in Baku, where he kept Lewis Hamilton behind for almost the entire race. He even managed to beat Verstappen in qualifying at Imola, something a second Red Bull driver to Daniel Ricciardo had never done before. Gasly did start ahead of Verstappen once in his time at Red Bull, but that was because the Dutchman was unable to complete his qualifying lap in Canada 2019 due to an accident caused by Haas' Kevin Magnussen.
Perez never laid awake from it
As preoccupied as the newsroom was with it, Perez himself wasted very little energy on his future. To Motorsport.com To be honest, Christian Horner and Helmut Marko already spoke with me a few races before and said I should not look anywhere else. They are happy with me and want to continue. We have also already built up a lot of mutual trust in this short time. If they say something to me, then I fully believe Christian and Helmut and I can rely on them."
