Gasly doesn't understand Red Bull decision: 'Best season in their history'
- GPblog.com
During the qualifying battle at Monza, AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly once again managed to beat his Red Bull colleague Sergio Perez. However, where he had hoped that his rock-solid performance would be enough to convince Helmut Marko and Christian Horner, the Frenchman finds himself back with the sister team next year, a decision he says he cannot understand.
"There are some things you just don't understand," Gasly began in conversation with Canal+. Two years after his sudden demotion to the sister team, the driver has done everything he can to bring his qualities to light, and with success. For the last year he has been able to call himself a Formula One race winner.
""I'm driving the best season that a driver has ever had at Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri since they started Formula 1 15 years ago", the driver continued. ""On the one hand it is sad and a bit frustrating. But on the other hand it is just the way it is. These things are not in my own hands."
Marko offers retort
Speaking to the microphones of Austria's ORF, Helmut Marko believes Pierre Gasly's talents are more needed at AlphaTauri. He explains: "WWe need him at AlphaTauri. We are fighting for fifth position in the constructors' championship there."
