Max Verstappen will start from pole tomorrow at Spa-Francorchamps. Perez just can't support his teammate right away, as the Mexican came no further than P7.

Red Bull Racing has cleared up all doubts about Sergio Perez early on. The team has already offered the Mexican a contract for 2022. The experienced driver wants to perform well in Belgium, but during the chaotic qualifying session, he was not quite able to.

With his last lap, Perez is no further than seventh position. "We had a very good pace throughout qualifying, in Q1, Q2 and even Q3. Unfortunately, on my last lap, I was blocked by Hamilton on my timed lap and that meant I had to start the lap within a second of him. As a result, I lost too much time," Perez explained to the Ziggo Sport camera.

Optimistic for the race

Despite the not-so-optimal starting position, the Mexican still sees good chances for his team, thanks to Verstappen's good starting position. "Hopefully we can get away well at the start and in these conditions, anything can happen. I'm optimistic, but we have a long race ahead of us tomorrow," concludes the Red Bull Racing driver.
