As we approach the halfway point of the Formula 1 season, the relationships within the teams are starting to take shape. For some teams, this means that the gap in results is widening, but for others, it is narrowing. For which teams is the difference in points the biggest?

The biggest difference is shown by Red Bull Racing: Max Verstappen has so far scored 78 points more than teammate Sergio Perez. The second team with the biggest difference in points is a bit surprising, but not earth-shattering considering the big difference in performance: at McLaren Lando Norris has a lead of 61 points over Daniel Ricciardo.

Striking difference with Mercedes

More striking is the difference in points between the Mercedes drivers, where Lewis Hamilton is 58 points ahead of Valtteri Bottas. In itself not so strange, but given the three zero scores of Bottas against one of Hamilton, one would expect a bigger difference in points. Verstappen and Pérez both have a zero score, but at Red Bull, the point difference is considerably bigger.

At AlphaTauri there is also a considerable difference in points: Pierre Gasly has so far scored thirty points more than Yuki Tsunoda, but given the latter is only in his first year, that's not the fairest of battles. After this, the differences become smaller. At Aston Martin Sebastian Vettel has scored sixteen points more than Lance Stroll, and at Alpine, Fernando has now gained eight points on Esteban Ocon. At Ferrari it's very close: Charles Leclerc is only two points ahead of Carlos Sainz, who has scored more points than his teammate in the last few races.
