Bottas doesn't want to know about rumours: 'We haven't talked about it yet'

For Valtteri Bottas, time seems to be running out at Mercedes. While George Russell is knocking on the door for the second seat, he is not achieving the results that are expected of him. The rumours abound that the Finn will be replaced by the Brit, who currently drives for Williams.
Bottas doesn't want to know anything about it, he explains in conversation with Formula1.com. "First of all, we haven't talked about anything yet, because it's a pretty tough championship and it's hugely important to have a rest than to work. Then you can focus on the most important thing, which is the performance."
Starting next month
That Bottas has to start talking about a contract extension, is something he doesn't want to ignore. He himself expects that it will take some time before those talks will start. "That time will still come. Not yet, but time does fly. Especially now that we're getting a triple header, we don't really have time either. I expect we'll be starting talks in the next month."
"I know from previous experience that it's better to get everything done earlier because that's better for everyone in the team as well. It's coming, but not yet". And once it comes to the negotiations, Bottas has high hopes. "I still have a few years left in me. I feel like I'm still growing and I still have a few years before I'm the oldest on the grid. So in theory I have some years to go," Bottas concluded.
