We've said it time and again: the battle between Mercedes and Red Bull Racing isn't just fought on the track. Outside of the circuit too, when it comes to adhering to technical regulations or making statements to the media, the rivals are playing hardball. Nico Rosberg has his own opinion.

Toto Wolff is reported to have told Sky Sports Italia in Monaco that he would rather fight for the world championship with Ferrari than Red Bull. It has everything to do with the discussion about the flexible rear wing of the RB16B.

Wolff doesn't seem to be a fan of Horner

Rosberg responds to the same medium on the statements of the Mercedes team boss: "That wasn't very nice of Toto to say. I think Wolff doesn't like Horner very much because he's not always that, shall we say, sympathetic to him", the former Formula 1 driver analyzed.

Mercedes believes that Red Bull's rear wing is flexing more than is allowed, but the formation of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in turn argue that the front wing of the German W12 is also moving more than is allowed by the regulations. "You are really going to see a tug-of-war there now because Mercedes says they are going to file a complaint, a protest and so Red Bull is going to do the same." Helmut Marko has already said that Red Bull already has its counter-attack on the table.

Conclusion in Baku

In any case, the FIA will investigate and will probably come up with a verdict during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Then we will also hear whether Mercedes or Red Bull will lodge a protest. Ross Brawn however thinks as the top man of Formula 1 that a protest won't do much good.
