In recent weeks there has been a lot of talk about Red Bull Racing moving staff from Mercedes. The Austrian team is taking the power unit into its own hands as of next season and in order to build a strong power unit by 2025 (when the new engine regulations are likely to be introduced in Formula 1), they have been shopping around at their rival.

Red Bull is thus directly weakening the competitor. About a hundred employees from Brackley have been approached, of whom more than ten have accepted the offer. Mattia Binotto doesn't really understand why the team of Christian Horner and Helmut Marko are making all this public.

Ferrari doesn't disclose anything

The Ferrari team boss says in conversation with Corriere della Sera: "In the last three years we have contracted more than 30 engineers from other teams. Red Bull announces it, we have done it without announcing it."

What Red Bull's reason is for announcing new personnel is unclear. Possibly the Milton Keynes-based formation does it purely and simply to be able to publicly tap the main opponent for winning the world championship in 2021.
