With a solid first run during the third session of qualifying in Monaco, Valtteri Bottas had to settle for a P3. The red flag towards the end of the session, caused by Leclerc, put an end to the flying lap that could have seen the Finn finish even higher up the timesheet.

Talking to Paul di Resta, Bottas looks back mostly with disappointment: "For me, it's disappointing. I didn't get my last run with the red flag but that's how it is sometimes."

Leclerc's violent crash threw Bottas' strategy upside down, as the driver knows: "I kinda left everything out there for the last run. The first run wasn't enough for pole and the second run with the prep lap was feeling good."

Bad weekend, good race?

Whether this will jeopardise his Grand Prix, Bottas does not dare to predict. After all, anything can happen in Monaco, he states. "I think we made good progress throughout the weekend with the car and happy with it in qualifying. We should have probably been on pole with the last run," Bottas said.
