The future of Formula 1 is uncertain in many ways. Especially for Max Verstappen. Honda is leaving after this season and like other teams, it remains to be seen how his team will adapt to the new regulations for 2022. Does he have enough faith in Red Bull Racing to stay with the team after this season?

"I’ve answered these things quite often", Verstappen is quoted as saying by Formula1.com. "I feel really good in the team and there is no reason to change that anyway. Already before this [engine programme] came out, I’m happy where I am and I hope we can drive together for a very long time and yeah, there’s not much more to say.”

Rumours about Mercedes die down

The fact that Verstappen was asked about this again at the press conference has everything to do with the build-up of the engine department that is now starting at Red Bull. Verstappen has often been linked with Mercedes in recent years, but the arrival of Mercedes engineer Ben Hodgkinson could remove all doubts.

Doubt, however, is not a word that is in Verstappen's vocabulary. Not just about his future at Red Bull, but also not about his performance on the track. "I'm always confident; it has nothing to do with whether you win a race or not. I just hope we are very competitive like the last two races."
