Gasly not fixated on Red Bull: 'There are other options'

The AlphaTauri seems to be a very fast car this season, but with only a 17th place in Imola, the season for Pierre Gasly has not yet gone as hoped. The Frenchman wants to change that in Portugal.
Not an easy race
In the press conference prior to the Portuguese Grand Prix, Gasly looked back on the previous race. "The Imola weekend went very positive as a whole, but on Sunday we struggled in the race," quote Speedweek.com. Still he is satisfied with his seventh place. "Especially considering the bad start, because I fell back to 18th place in the first few laps. I was lucky because the red flags gave me a chance to come back and save some points for the finish. But it wasn't an easy race."
Next weekend Gasly hopes to turn the tide. "I hope we have a better race Sunday this weekend. A good result is important for the whole team because so far we have not been able to translate the strong form in qualifying into a strong result in the GP. We need to step up our game on Sunday and try to set the best possible score."
Future in Formula 1
Gasly is in a good place at AlphaTauri at the moment, but ultimately he too wants more than to compete in the mid-table. "Personally, my ultimate goal is to compete at the top in Formula 1," he said. As a Red Bull driver, he obviously hopes to do that at the main team. "Thanks to them I'm in Formula 1 and I'm very, very grateful for that. At the moment I am under contract with them and if the will to work together is there, I am very happy with that. If not, there are other options."
