After the Miami Grand Prix was announced last week, McLaren CEO Zak Brown hopes that a third American Grand Prix will appear on the calendar. His preference will then be for a race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

A third race in America

Miami recently signed a ten-year contract to host the Grand Prix around the stadium of the Miami Dolphins. In 2021 the race in Austin is also on the calendar, but the contract expires after this year.

Brown has already spoken to F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali about his plan. "I think I’d like to see in America three Grands Prix, but the schedule may not allow for three," Brown said in a conversation with the Indianapolis Star.

Rotation between two races, one permanent race

Therefore, the American has come up with an idea. "I’d like to see one permanent one, and then maybe a rotation. Then, you get three markets, and you keep the enthusiasm and the excitement if you have a little bit more scarcity."

Miami should become the main act of the three races in the United States and will then be on the calendar every year. "But now that COTA has been built, I don’t know if it needs it every year. And Indianapolis, because it’s built, I don’t think it needs it every year," Brown revealed.
