Max Verstappen can start from the first place when the lights go out for the Bahrain Grand Prix. He beat Lewis Hamilton on Saturday, who could well make things difficult for the Dutchman from the front row of the grid. The other Red Bull Racing car of Sergio Perez will have to play catch-up from P11.

The Mexican failed to make Q3 after two attempts on mediums. Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc will start from third and fourth. Pierre Gasly will start from P5. Of the top five, only Leclerc will not start on mediums. Gasly, therefore, has a strategic advantage over the Ferrari driver.

Sebastian Vettel received a grid penalty for ignoring the yellow flags during qualifying in Q1 after a spin by Nikita Mazepin.
