Sergio Perez had some Honda engine parts replaced as a precaution, but Max Verstappen 's RB16B was also tinkered with prior to the Bahrain Grand Prix. Under the rules of parc fermé the 23-year old Limburger got a new floor.

This means that Verstappen will not receive a grid penalty from the FIA. One of the parts that has been replaced on the floor of the Red Bull driver's car is the T-tray. The damaged floor cost Verstappen a tenth of a second per lap during qualifying. That loss has now been undone for the Grand Prix.

Verstappen will start the GP at the Bahrain International Circuit in first place after his pole position of Saturday. Sergio Perez failed to make Q3 and will therefore start from P11.
