Sebastian Vettel will make a new step in his career this season, together with Aston Martin. The German drove for Ferrari in recent years, but the marriage between those two parties broke down last year. Vettel was looking for a new challenge and found it in Racing Point, which will continue under the name Aston Martin this season.

Vettel's goal in the beginning will be to get maximum points for the team. "The challenge is not to get used to everything as quickly as possible, but to get the maximum out of the car. We will all be experts in driving these cars after 23 races," Vettel explained at the press conference, ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

No good preparation

According to the four-time world champion, Aston Martin is in good shape, but it is still unclear where they stand in relation to the competition. "It's impossible to determine those ratios now, but from Saturday we will have an idea. The clear favourites are Mercedes and Red Bull Racing and I believe in us being close behind them."

Whether Aston Martin is really that close to the two top teams is still a big question mark after the winter test. The Silverstone-based team managed to put in the fewest laps of all the teams and with that the fewest data. "We didn't manage to put in the amount of laps that we were aiming for, but there's no one who has prepared in the best possible way," said Vettel.

The unveiling of the name

Finally, Vettel has a tradition of naming his car for the season each year and he is also keeping up this tradition at Aston Martin. The Aston Martin brand is often linked to the James Bond films and so Vettel has based the name on that. "Honey Rider", will be the name of the car, with a reference to the 1962 James Bond film.
