Next season Sebastian Vettel will get a new chance at Aston Martin. At Ferrari he was clearly outclassed by Charles Leclerc, but at Aston Martin Vettel can start again to prove himself. The German is known for his driving style, where he demands a lot of grip from the rear. At Ferrari this was lacking and he often lost the rear of his car.

"The whole story around it did get a bit out of hand. I'm not more sensitive to it than other drivers. At Red Bull Racing and in the beginning at Ferrari, I could just deal with a nervous rear end very well," Vettel explained at Auto, Motor und Sport. The German expects that the new team philosophy at Aston Martin will help him.

Vettel less extreme than Perez?

"Of course I won't know how the car feels until we get to Bahrain, but if you look at the philosophy it's really different to what I'm used to. I hope the new philosophy suits me". At Silverstone Vettel already drove 50km in the new car for the shakedown, but the real work will happen this weekend, during the winter tests.

Andy Green, technology director at Aston Martin, expects Aston Martin and Vettel to be a good match. "Seb has an individual driving style. However, it's not anything different to what we've seen before". Green makes the comparison with Sergio Perez, who had an aggressive driving style. "It was very difficult to get the setup right for all the circuits. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Sebastian is much less extreme about this," Green concludes.
