Leclerc gives clear message to Sainz: 'We need to work together'

Next season Ferrari will drive with a relatively young line-up. Sebastian Vettel with his four world championships had to make way for Carlos Sainz, who finally gets his chance at a top team. Together with Charles Leclerc, the two drivers will have to help Ferrari get back to the top of the grid, as the Italians are looking for a way back after a solid setback in 2020.
There will therefore be no immediate tensions between the two drivers, Leclerc expects. "I think we have to find a compromise between the two of us. It's clear that we have to push for the team and that's the plan," Leclerc explained to Crash.net. "Carlos wants to beat me and of course I want to beat him too and when we are on the track we will fight carefully with each other.”
No infighting between them at Ferrari?
"We do need to make sure that we help the team move forward". Leclerc is hoping for a good collaboration with Sainz, as the Monegasque himself sees that Ferrari need to make big steps. "The most important thing is that we keep the on-track actions separate from the off-track actions and that when we are out of the car, we both work together to develop the car further".
"That's a line you have to find with any teammate. Carlos is hugely competitive, but has also made it clear before that he is here for the team. So we have to start playing it smart". With which car Ferrari will find its way back next season will be revealed on Wednesday afternoon, as the last team. From Friday onwards we will see in Bahrain to what extent the Italians have made the jump.
