This is what we know about the Aston Martin presentation
- GPblog.com
Today, Wednesday 3 March, Aston Martin presents the car they will use to chase down the Mercedes this coming season. In the run-up to the presentation, here's an overview of what's already known about the unveiling of the AMR21 and what we can expect from the launch event.
New name, new driver
The planned Aston Martin presentation will undoubtedly be partly dominated by the change of name for the team, which was previously known as Racing Point on the grid, and the reinstatement of the Aston Martin name in the premier class of motor sport. There will also most likely be a focus on Sebastian Vettel, and welcoming the experienced German to the team.
Mercedes engine
Sharp-eyed fans will also keep their eye on the bonnet of the AMR21. As Mercedes' customer team, it will be interesting to see if the Aston Martin livery has a similar bump on the bonnet as seen on Mercedes' W12. If the Mercedes customer teams have also been seen themselves obligated to widen their bonnets, the hump can be explained by the Mercedes power unit. Otherwise, if Aston Martin and Williams prove not to have followed suit, the reasoning behind the Mercedes design is still up for analysis.
#IAMF1
Aston Martin will also use the moment to promote their newly launched #IAMF1 campaign. Big fans of the team can use a subscription to be the first to hear about new developments within the team and interact with the drivers. Aston Martin will undoubtedly advertise this more during the presentation.
