No more 'Champagne' for F1 drivers on the podium after a Grand Prix
- GPblog.com
Champagne, thanks in part to motorsport and Formula 1, is known as the drink of choice when there is something to celebrate. However, from 2021 onwards, the drivers will no longer be spraying champagne on the podium. F1 has found a new sponsor for the "victory drink".
It is the Italian Ferrari Trento. Like the previous sponsors Moëtt & Chandonen and Carbon, this is a sparkling wine, but because it is not produced in the French Champagne region, it can't be called that.
Different name, same result
In reality, therefore, not much changes and the gentlemen will be able to spray each other after the race. Only in the races in the Middle East will the alcohol be replaced by rose water, of course.
Ferrari Trento says on their site that they are very happy with the new collaboration and calls Formula 1 an ideal partner. Considering their own name, this may be true, although the wine has nothing to do with the car brand. The wine brand dates back to 1902 and existed long before Enzo Ferrari started his racing team.
