After a two-year stint at McLaren, Carlos Sainz is moving to Ferrari next year. Team boss Andreas Seidl, looking back on his collaboration with the Mexican, has suggested that his former driver has everything he needs to become one of the top drivers in the sport.

In an interview at Marca.com, Seidl looks back on the start of the collaboration between Sainz and McLaren: “He came here after a very difficult time for the team, but he gave everything for us since the first test in Abu Dhabi two years ago, both on the track and off.”

Win-win situation

Seidl then indicated that the cooperation was a success: Sainz has been able to show his qualities as a racer to the world, and in turn has given the McLaren team a big boost. The team even managed to secure third place in the constructors classification this year.

Seidl explains: "During these two years at McLaren, we have seen that Sainz has what it takes to be a 'top' driver Thanks to our work to give him a good car, Sainz has been able to show all his talent. It is fair to say that we both benefit from the relationship, he took a leap in quality and received the call from Ferrari.”
