The season is over and Nico Rosberg has made a top-five of the best Formula 1 drivers of 2020 this weekend. The former world champion is very impressed by Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Behind these two men are the names of Charles Leclerc, Daniel Ricciardo and Pierre Gasly.

"Of course Lewis is my number one," Rosberg says on his YouTube channel. Hamilton's former team mate calls it the very clever thing the British driver manages to do year after year. "Whoever drives at the highest level for so long and sets all the records is simply the best man."

Not far behind, Verstappen has managed to occupy second place in Rosberg's list. "I think Lewis and Max are in their own league. I see Verstappen getting the most out of his car in every race, the Dutchman really does a very impressive job."

Leclerc vs. Ricciardo

The decision as to who will be number three this year was a difficult one. "I see Leclerc and Ricciardo there on an equal footing. But in the end I go for Charles because he made Ferrari look a lot better. I also found it very impressive how he left Sebastian Vettel behind, and we are talking about one of the most successful Formula 1 drivers of all time. Leclerc is an incredible talent.

"So my number four is Daniel," Rosberg continues his story. "I think the Australian has shown quite a strong season. He has also performed a lot better than his car is capable of. Gasly is number five. That's not just because of his victory at Monza. He has gotten better again and is usually present when opportunities arise."
