Yuki Tsunoda is one of the favourites to take on the Alpha Tauri seat alongside Pierre Gasly in 2021. The Japanese driver finished third in the Formula 2 championship, but is in first place on another list.

For years Honda have been working hard to get a Japanese driver back into Formula 1. Just when they plan to pull the plug on the F1 project, an ideal candidate seems to have presented itself: Yuki Tsunoda. Helmut Marko also sees the talent and the Japanese driver now has a super license.

Tsunoda the best in Formula 2

With a third place and thus the highest ranking as Rookie, Tsunoda made a big impression this season. He had some bad luck with some downturn in fortunes at times, but with three victories and four pole positions he clearly gave a good account of himself. In F2, however, it was mainly the sprint races that got away from him.

If you only take the results of the main races and don't count the sprint race, Tsunoda is even the champion. With 161 points, Tsunoda takes the title, while Callum Ilott is just short. Based on the main races, Mick Schumacher is only third and is 21 points down on Tsunoda.
