Earlier this week it was announced that Juri Vips was suddenly no longer allowed to participate in the Super Formula because his spot had been forgiven, but now it becomes clear why. The Estonian will be present at AlphaTauri this weekend.

Vips is one of Red Bull Racing's older talents who has made a big impression in recent seasons but never really made a breakthrough. He won Formula 4 but then had to make do with fourth place in Formula 3 and second place in the Macau Grand Prix. However, after a strong raid in Formula 2, he regained the spotlight.

Vips on the reserve bench

At 20 years Vips is still a talent and after a 300-kilometre test for AlphaTauri, he now has his super license in his pocket. This means that the Estonian has a chance to win a seat in Formula 1. However, that spot next to Pierre Gasly seems to go to Yuki Tsunoda, but he still has to get his super license first.

Vips will be the reserve driver this weekend in case something goes wrong with Pierre or Daniil Kvyat. However, he could also be Tsunoda's reserve if he doesn't get his license. However, the Estonian lacks the necessary experience, apart from Formula 3 he hasn't raced a full season in any higher class. In addition, Vips is called because Sergio Sette Camara and Sebastien Buemi have different racing obligations.
