"As a human it's just awful to see him suffer like this"

Alexander Albon does not have it easy. He's under a lot of pressure at Red Bull Racing and he really needs to show something special now, or his time with the team will come to an end. At the race in Imola, he wasn't able to do that.
Albon is suffering
In the Formula 1 podcast of NOS Jan Lammers says he feels sorry for the Thai driver. "It is tear jerking. From a human point of view it is just awful to see him suffer like that and you feel awfully sorry for him. But you get into an arena - it's not a driving school. When you get into it, you are expected to be able to do all the things you need to be able to do. He knows that too, that's the painful thing."
In addition, the enormous pressure on Albon at the moment may be causing him to perform worse. "Maybe it's all too forced now. Based on his past performance, he just has to be able to do it. But he's not doing it."
Lammers continues: "That's already happening on the kart track. Of the 100 participants, 50 can be in the top 20, but only 20 actually do it. The others have the potential, but they don't get it on their own or do it at the wrong time. To get that out of yourself, the maximum of what is possible, Max miraculously gets it done every weekend."
