Will it be Sergio Perez, Nico Hulkenberg, Pierre Gasly or still Alexander Albon? Who will take the seat in the Red Bull Racing car in 2021 as a teammate of Verstappen? Robert Doornbos knows who deserves the seat the most.

Albon the biggest contender?

The biggest contender seems to be Alexander Albon, Verstappen's current teammate, but he hasn't yet secured his place. "Albon is often nice in the race, but his qualifying speed just isn't good enough," Robert Doornbos says on Motorsport.com. "He still has a few more races to earn that seat for next year".

The Formula 1 analyst also agrees that it is not yet a certainty for Albon. "I wouldn't think it would be strategically smart for Red Bull to say to Albon right now 'you're safe for 2021'. No, let him work for that chair and let him close the gap to Max."

Opportunities Hulkenberg and Perez

Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez are both regularly mentioned as possible drivers at Red Bull Racing, but Doornbos is sure that this will not happen. "Then you shoot your own programme full in the foot. And Red Bull is proud of its own junior programme." Doornbos therefore thinks that Albon and Gasly are the only real contenders.
