Yuki Tsunoda seems to be on his way to AlphaTauri in 2021. Daniil Kvyat is underperforming and as the talent of Honda the performance of the rookie in Formula 2 this year stands out. Helmut Marko would also be a fan of the Japanese.
Japanese in Formula 1
After some inferior performances in Italy, there was reason for Tsunoda to rejoice in Russia. The Japanese took pole for the main race and finished second and sixth in the main and sprint race. It was already the third pole for Honda's talent, which is in the clear interest of Red Bull.
Marko would be interested in giving Tsunoda a chance at AlphaTauri. Kvyat would then have to make way so that Tsunoda could join Pierre Gasly. At the beginning of October Marko wanted to make a decision, but according to Masashi Yamamoto this will be postponed because of the shortened race in Russia.
Tsunoda to AlphaTauri
''After the race I talked to Marko and he said it was a shame about the red flag. Yuki is now third in the standings again and the championship will be decided in the last two races. Yuki will now spend a lot of time in the simulators of Carlin and Red Bull, so he can't blame himself after the race," says Yamamoto to Auto Sport Web.
''It's already October and of course, I'm talking to Marko about the possible options, but we don't have an agreement yet," says the Honda top man. ''Marko personally likes Tsunoda and there are few drivers who can do this in their first year. So I think he is seriously considering promoting him," concludes Yamamoto.
