Max Verstappen came second during the GP of Spain on Sunday. This seemed to be the maximum, as Mercedes again showed that it had built a better car than Red Bull Racing.

"I don't want to talk about a world performance right away, but it was top-notch. With all due respect Max just drove a chanceless Red Bull compared to the Mercedes. He finished second, while third would have been great too'', said Kees van de Grint in RTL GP Slipstream. In hindsight, Bridgestone's former tyre expert would have preferred to have done something different with his time.

''On the other hand, I was disappointed, because the whole race didn't really look like anything. There was no fight and the number four was just on a lap. I could have done a bit better in that respect, but that doesn't alter the fact that Verstappen deserves a box of compliments. Hamilton is good, but Max is the tastemaker'', Van de Grint explains.

''Everyone, not just the Dutch, have the hope that Verstappen would go into battle, because without Verstappen it would be a sad spectacle. Then Bottas would just come in second and the rest would be way behind'', concludes Van de Grint.
