Tuesday evening, the news suddenly came that Sebastian Vettel would be in the spotlight with the Aston Martin F1 Team for the 2021 season. According to various media, the four-time world champion would even have signed, but according to Motorsport-Total.com, a transfer from Vettel to the British team has not yet been completed.

Vettel didn't sign yet

This is reported by the generally well entered website on Wednesday morning: "The switch is still far from certain," writes the German medium. However, they do agree that there may be interest in the services of the Ferrari driver from the Aston Martin F1 Team. Last weekend Otmar Szafnauer was also asked about contracting Vettel and then the team boss didn't deny that the German has an interesting profile.

The arrival of Vettel would have consequences for Sergio Perez. The 30-year-old driver still has a contract until 2022, but according to information from AutoBild, Racing Point has the opportunity to tear up the Mexican's contract in exchange for several million euros.

Vettel does not allow himself to be put under pressure

The deadline for Racing Point and Vettel to make use of this clause is said to be July 31st. So Vettel still has a little more than two weeks to make the decision. In Austria, however, he indicated that he would not allow himself to be put under pressure. "I don't see why I have to let myself be put under pressure from outside," he said at the television station ORF.

In last week's interviews Vettel hinted at wanting to continue in Formula 1. However, Renault and McLaren have no more room for him and his chances at Mercedes and Red Bull Racing seem to be nil for 2021. That's why the Aston Martin F1 Team, which is performing very well this year as Racing Point, would be a very good possibility (and perhaps the only option) for Vettel.
