In the first race Charles Leclerc managed to finish on the podium, albeit with some luck. In the second race it was quickly ready for both Ferrari drivers and that caused a lot of reactions on the web, often with a somewhat mocking undertone. However, if it's up to Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, Ferrari will quickly get back on top, because this is a shame.

Bad start of Ferrari

At Speedweek Wolff says: "Of course this is a bad start. It's an incredible brand with hardworking people." However, that work does not prove itself, because apart from the failure on Sunday in the Styrian Grand Prix, Ferrari does not seem to have the speed this year and that is a shame. Precisely because the teams need Ferrari for a good fight.

"We want a strong Ferrari", says Wolff. "We need Ferrari in the fight with all the big teams. Something like yesterday or last week is not good for us and it is not good for Formula 1." At the same time, we should certainly not write off Ferrari this year, because the Italian team can and always will be a threat.

"I wouldn't write off Ferrari yet. Now it was a driver error which led to double failure", Wolff said. For now Ferrari doesn't seem to be a competitor for Mercedes this year, but Red Bull is still a bit more behind than expected and that's what surprises Wolff. "That was somewhat surprising", that the RB16 could not keep up with the W11, "because Red Bull was really good in the long runs on Friday."
