Binotto tapped his fingers by Ferrari-CEO: "We want the budget cap''

The new $145 million budget cap has finally been announced, after mainly Ferrari and Red Bull Racing turned out to be against the deal. Within Ferrari, however, there was a dichotomy. Where Mattia Binotto didn't want a cut, the CEO now whistles him back.
Binotto on the fingers
The new $145 million budget cap should ensure that Formula 1 will have a fairer playing field for all participants. Ferrari has been in the sport since time immemorial and performs mainly every year due to the immense amounts of money the team invests. From 2020 it will no longer be possible and the CEO is happy with that.
''We hope that a budget cap will ensure a sustainable future for Formula 1, where it is economically viable for all players. At the same time, we must not lose too much, because the class must remain at the top of motorsport and strive for innovation'', says Louis Camilleri in a video conference according to Motorsport-total.com.
Less income
It's a different sound than Binotto showed, who preferred a model where the small teams could buy a car from the big teams. The proposal was put forward by Christian Horner, and Binotto saw bread in it. The team boss is now being tapped on his fingers in that respect.
''All in all, Ferrari is in good shape and we can fight this crisis better than others. Formula 1 wants a maximum of eighteen races in 2020, most of which will be behind closed doors. This will affect revenues for Formula 1, but also for the teams. These will remain our biggest sources of income," concludes Camilleri.
