WEC Six hours at Spa postponed due to Coronavirus
The 6 hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the next round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, will not take place on April 25 due to the coronavirus. It is believed that the event has been postponed rather than cancelled and a new date will be found later on in the year.
This is the latest of a list of motorsport activities that have been postponed due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
"This decision is the only responsible option we can take at the moment," said WEC CEO Gérard Neveu. "The health and well-being of our participants, fans and paddock members remains our priority. We are working hard on a new date for the Spa 6 Hours and will communicate as soon as possible."
The Formula 1 season has ground to a halt after last weekends Australian Grand Prix was called off at the last minute and it is still uncertain as to when these events will go ahead.
A reschedule of all these events will take time but it is hoped that the season will not be cut short and perhaps races will have to be held on consecutive weeks.
