Update | Now two people are infected with coronavirus, with whom Hamilton was with
Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister, has tested positive for the coronavirus. Lewis Hamilton posed for a photo alongside Sophie Grégoire Trudeau at an event in London which was also attended by actor Idris Elba. Formula 1's Australian Grand Prix was cancelled at the last minute. Idris Elba has now also tested positive for the virus.
The six-time Formula 1 world champion spoke about how he took all the precautions on his flight to Australia for the race in Melbourne.
According to Auto Motor und Sport, all Formula 1 teams will self-quarantine for 14 days after the cancelled Australian Grand Prix. The teams have decided that upon returning to their home country, the team members will be put in home quarantine for 14 days. A period has been agreed for all teams when the team members are not allowed to enter the factory.
According to AMuS, the teams have unanimously decided that no one should come into the factory before March 29, and the team members will be placed in home quarantine. So for the teams, the real work will only resume on March 30. It is therefore clear that COVID-19 will significantly slow down the development of the 2020 cars. McLaren was the first to withdraw from the race in Australia after a team member in Melbourne became infected with the coronavirus.
