Honda are already "optimising PU settings" during F1 testing

20 February 2020 at 18:32

Toyoharu Tanabe, technical director of motorcycle supplier Honda, speaks of another positive day at AlphaTauri after the second test day in Spain. The CEO indicates that the optimisation of the engine setting is slowly but surely being considered.

“For the second day of testing, our work followed on from what we did yesterday, with functionality checks as well as beginning to work on optimising our PU settings based on yesterday’s feedback and data," Tanabe said.

"Pierre did 147 laps, the second-highest number on the day. Overall another solid day’s work with plenty more data to study.”

With the help of just one red flag, the number of laps completed is significantly higher during this pre-season testing week. Teams have two less days of testing ahead of the 2020 Australian Grand Prix because the number of races has increased. However, that now looks to be in doubt after the Chinese Grand Prix was postponed.
