Lando Norris: "I know I am" ready for 2020
Lando Norris says he knows he is ready for the 2020 campaign, after feeling nervous this time last year. Norris made his debut with McLaren in F1 in 2019 and impressed, regularly scoring points and entertaining us with his personality.
Norris secured a best finish of P6 at the Austrian Grand Prix and admitted that he was apprehensive ahead of his debut year.
He said in a McLaren interview: "I’m itching to get back in the car, especially this year. I was last year, but I was a lot more nervous at this point in 2019 with all the new things I had to contend with: rules, information, strategies, ways of working, everything really.
"Whereas now, I know a lot of this stuff. I feel more relaxed and not so nervous. Instead of wondering whether I’m ready for the first race, this time I know I am and that’s why I’m so excited."
How high can Norris go?
At still just 20 years of age, the young Brit has almost endless opportunities for a top career in F1. He's already at one of the biggest teams in the history of the sport, but if he continues his development the way he is, it wouldn't be a surprise if one of the top teams came calling.
Norris has ties with Mercedes, so maybe when they're next looking for a driver, Norris could be in the mix. We'll have to wait and see, but let's enjoy him at McLaren for now!
