Helmut Marko backs Max Verstappen to stay with Red Bull long-term
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko says that he is confident the team can keep star driver Max Verstappen for the long term, despite rumours the Dutchman may search for new opportunities if Red Bull Racing cannot deliver the title for him.
Verstappen has shown on plenty of occasions that he is one of the best drivers on the grid this season, with his victory in Brazil a perfect showing of that.
At still only 22, Verstappen has plenty of years ahead of him to win titles, but he'll want to be winning sooner rather than later, so Red Bull Racing are under pressure to keep him.
Marko is confident he will stick around at the team, telling Servus TV: “There was a dinner in Brazil, and let’s put it this way: the mood was very positive. At the time, we didn’t even know that Honda would continue with us in 2021.
“After Abu Dhabi, we will sit around a table again, and I think we have a good chance of retaining Max after 2020. It’s no secret that we would like to keep him."
