Norris is no longer a teenager! How has the McLaren driver performed in F1 2019?
It's Lando Norris' birthday! The McLaren driver leaves his teenage years behind and with that means there will no longer be a teenager involved in Formula 1 for the final two races of the 2019 season. In his rookie year, the Brit has performed well and is on the cusp of breaking into the top 10 in the F1 world championship.
Ahead of his first race in Australia, Norris was already a big name. The now 20-year-old made an impression during his karting years and championship wins in MSA and Formula Renault. He moved into F3 and came away with the title in his debut season.
Norris moved into F2 and faced a direct fight with George Russell for the championship. The two Brits went toe-to-toe but it was Russell who came out on top. However, Norris' season, which included nine podiums, was deemed strong enough for a seat in Formula 1 with McLaren.
How has Norris performed in 2019?
Norris currently sits 11th in the championship, just three points behind Sergio Perez with two races remaining in Brazil and Abu Dhabi. Norris has been unlucky numerous times during the season. Without the breakdowns, Norris would be much closer to his more experienced teammate Carlos Sainz who has seemingly wrapped up the best of the rest position.
Going into the final two rounds of the F1 championship, the McLaren qualifying duel is the only battle that remains active. To win, Norris needs to outqualify Sainz in both races.
He hits the big today. But what else do you know about @LandoNorris?
