Mercedes not on pole for seven races: "That makes the victory better"
Mercedes have not started a race on pole position for seven races. The last time they started at the front was the German Grand Prix and although they have already won both championships this could worry the team. However, Toto Wolff thinks that it makes the victories even sweeter if they have had to work for them.
"The Ferrari is simply better at pure speed, but on Sundays, it doesn't seem to be going well. We remain hungry and the defeats only keep us more motivated. If you lose, you also appreciate the wins and that only makes the sport more beautiful," Wolff told Motorsport.com.
Ferrari have been blisteringly fast in qualifying but Wolff is not concerned as long as his team continues to perform on race day.
"It's not just about the strategy, but also about the car. Of course, the competition is slightly faster, but because we are fast enough we can make a difference with strategic decisions."
Both Mercedes and Ferrari will be battling it out for the race win this weekend at the United States Grand Prix.
